By Decree No. (101/2001), which stated its goals in carrying out air transport operations for people, mail, and cargo both inside and outside of Libya, Afriqiyah Airways was created in April 2001. It has been considered in its ambitions to build a bridge between the African continent and the rest of the world and to give priority to investment in air transportation. Al-Khu al-Jawwiyyah al-Afriyyah, also known as Afriqiyah Airways, is a Libyan state-owned airline with its headquarters in Tripoli. Prior to the revolution of February 17, 2011, it ran domestic services between Tripoli and Benghazi as well as planned international flights to more than 25 nations in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Since the war’s end, it has been working to reestablish its operations. Tripoli International is theoretically the main base of Afriqiyah Airways.
