About Air Koryo
The national airline of North Korea, Air Koryo, offers regular service to both internal and foreign locations. Air Koryo was established in 1950 and has a lengthy history. Over the years, the company has seen considerable changes, including the introduction of new aircraft and advancements in safety regulations. One of Air Koryo’s most remarkable features is its reputation as one of the worst airlines in the world. The airline utilizes several aircraft from the Soviet era, notably the Ilyushin Il-62, Tupolev Tu-134, and Antonov An-24, which are infamous for their antiquated technology and shoddy safety records. Although the airline has recently introduced newer aircraft, such as the Tupolev Tu-204 and the Antonov An-148, these are still somewhat ancient in comparison to the fleets of other carriers.
