About Air Madagascar
The hub and corporate offices of Air Madagascar are located at Ivato International Airport in Antananarivo, Madagascar (IATA Code: MD). The airline was initially established in 1947 as a feeder service to connect with Transports Aériens Intercontinental and Air France. Then, in 1962, with Madagascar’s independence, it was made the country’s flag carrier. Air Madagascar experienced a rapid expansion in the 1960s and 1970s that comprised 58 local destinations as well as international operations to Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Rome, Munich, and the Comores. Then, in the latter half of the 1970s and the beginning of the 1980s, they further increased service to Seychelles, Reunion Island, and Mauritius. In October 1998, when they began offering flights to Singapore Changi Airport, Air Madagascar launched their first flight to South East Asia.
