The national airline of the French overseas territory of French Polynesia, Air Tahiti Nui, has its headquarters in Papeete and its day-to-day operations office in Faaa, Tahiti. From its base at Faa’a International Airport, it runs lengthy flights using a fleet of four Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The company Air Tahiti Nui was founded on October 31, 1996, and it started flying on November 20, 1998. It was founded to promote inbound tourism and was the country of French Polynesia’s first long-distance airline.
