About AirAsia Philippines
Philippines AirAsia, an AirAsia Group affiliate, was founded in March 2012. 40% of the airline is owned by AirAsia Berhad, and the remaining 60% is divided between Filipino investors. In order to maximize fleet utilization for both carriers and slot allocations from Manila, AirAsia Group announced plans to combine AirAsia Philippines with Zest Air on May 10, 2013. Throughout the interim period, the two carriers continued to operate under separate Air Operator’s Certificates. However, Philippines AirAsia and AirAsia Zest successfully combined to become a single organization in December 2015, and they currently work under a single AOC.
