Aklak Air is an Inuvialuit-owned airline with its headquarters in Inuvik, Canada’s Northwest Territories. In the western Arctic, it runs charter flights as well as year-round and seasonal scheduled services. Inuvik (Mike Zubko) Airport serves as its primary base. The airline was founded in 1977, and it began flying passengers in 1978. Aklak Air and Kenn Borek Air established a joint venture in June 1994, according to which Aklak Air has access to Kenn Borek Air’s fleet as needed. Inuvialuit Joint Venture Company is the sole owner of Aklak Air.
