About Avelo Airlines
Houston, Texas serves as the home base for the American ultra-low-cost airline Avelo Airlines (/vlo/). Prior to beginning scheduled service on April 8, 2021, and adopting the name Avelo Airlines, it ran charter flights as Casino Express Airlines and Xtra Airways. The first regularly scheduled flight by the carrier under the Avelo moniker will leave from Hollywood Burbank Airport and land at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport on April 28, 2021. On July 20, 1987, the airline, then known as Casino Express Airlines, was established. It began operating Boeing 737-200 aircraft exclusively for the Red Lion Hotel and Casino in Elko, Nevada, in 1989. Casino Express operated nonstop 737 flights from Elko Regional Airport to many US destinations. Casino Express operated frequent, nonstop flights in 1994.
