About Azul Brazilian Airlines
Former JetBlue Airways CEO David Neeleman founded Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (Azul) in March 2008. Nine months later, in December 2008, the Brazilian low-cost airline started operations. The airline, located at Campinas Viracopos Airport with a secondary hub at Belo Horizonte Tancredo Neves International Airport, operates one of the broadest internal networks of any in South America. Privately held Azul announced in May 2012 that it would combine with another domestic airline, TRIP. The merger was completed in May 2014, and the combined carrier currently holds a 15% market share for domestic travel. The Embraer 195-E2’s launch carrier is called Azul.
