About Bangkok Airways (PG)
Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited is a regional airline with its headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand (Thai: ). It offers scheduled flights to the Maldives, Myanmar, Singapore, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. Suvarnabhumi Airport is its primary base. The Overseas International Construction Company (OICC), an American construction firm, the United States Operations Mission (USOM), and a number of other organizations engaged in oil and natural gas exploration in the Gulf of Thailand were among the clients of the airline when it was founded in 1968 as Sahakol Air. OICC, USOM, and other organizations contracted the airline to provide air taxi services. It started offering regular flights in 1986, becoming Thailand’s first local privately owned airline. In 1989, Bangkok Airways adopted a new name. Ownership of the airline is split between Prasert Prasarttong-Osoth (92.31%), Sahakol Estate (4.3%), and Bangkok Dusit Medical Services.
