Batik Air Malaysia, originally Malindo Air, is a full-service airline operating out of Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. It is a member of the Indonesian Lion Air Group. The cooperative agreement between Malaysia and Indonesia is denoted by the original name Malindo. The entry of Malaysia’s AirAsia into Lion Air’s home market has prompted the Indonesian airline to launch a sister carrier in Malaysia. In an effort to establish a presence in Indonesia, AirAsia subsidiary Indonesia AirAsia attempted to acquire Indonesian airline Batavia Air in collaboration with its parent company.
