About Chalair Aviation (CE)
On the grounds of Caen-Carpiquet Airport in Carpiquet are the main offices and base of operations for the French regional airline Chalair Aviation. It operates both routine regional flights and charter flights for unique circumstances. The airline was founded by Philippe Lebaron in October 1986 under the name Chalair. In 1997, the name was changed to Chalair Aviation. Beginning in 1997, Chalair Aviation began operating an ATR 42 between Cherbourg and Orly and a Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner between Le Mans and Eindhoven, in addition to commercial and cargo operations. Three Cessna Citation II and CJ2 aircraft, one ATR 42-300, and one Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner were flown by Chalair Aviation between 1997 and 2004. The airline provides scheduled services, business travel, freight (including hazardous and caustic goods), and corporate shuttle services.
