About Samoa Airways (OL)
The island nation’s national airline is Samoa Airways, which was formerly known as Polynesian Airlines. In 1959, “Polynesian Airlines” launched operations, providing both domestic and international service throughout the South Pacific. Before resuming under the new name “Samoa Airways” in late 2017, international operations were briefly discontinued in 2005 and taken over by the upstart airline Polynesian Blue (later Virgin Samoa). Government-owned Samoa Airways is based in Apia, Samoa, and has its main hub at Faleolo International Airport. Its offices are located in the Samoa National Provident Fund Building on Beach Road. Although the airline no longer offers long-haul service to Australia or New Zealand, it still operates short-haul flights within Samoa and American Samoa.
